About this site

How it works

This site does not employ roofers. When you call, you are connected with an independent roofing contractor that serves your address. That company inspects the roof, prices the replacement and, if you hire it, does the work.

What this site is

Roofs Norwalk is a referral service for homeowners in Norwalk and the neighboring towns of Westport, Darien, New Canaan and Wilton who are planning a roof replacement or a new roof. The guides explain the materials, the Connecticut rules and what moves the price, so you can talk to a contractor knowing what to ask.

When you call, you are connected with an independent roofing contractor that serves your area. That company is a separate business: it inspects the roof, gives you its own price and, if you hire it, does the work and stands behind it.

The site is run by Gunnar Bengtsson. There is no office open to the public.

How a call works

From one call to a new roof

  1. 1

    You call

Ring (855) 365-0164 during call hours. Say where the house is and that you are thinking about a new roof.

  2. 2

    You are connected

The call goes through to an independent roofing contractor that serves your town.

  3. 3

    They come and look

The contractor inspects the roof and attic, then gives you a written price for the replacement.

  4. 4

    You decide

Compare it, ask questions, check the registration. There is no obligation to hire anyone.

How the site is paid

You pay nothing to this site. Contractors, or the referral network they work with, may pay when a call is connected. The contractor sets its own prices, and you are never obliged to hire anyone.

This site does not help with insurance claims and does not refer claim work. The referral disclosure has the details.

Before you hire anyone

Five checks worth a few minutes

  • Look up the contractor's registration at elicense.ct.gov.
  • Ask for a certificate of insurance.
  • Get a signed written contract with the registration number, dates and a cancellation notice.
  • Confirm who files the permit and that it is issued before work starts.
  • If the house is in a historic district, get the commission's approval first.
